Kit Young is an English actor of Scottish and Ugandan descent, best known for his roles as Jesper Fahey in the Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone, Rafal in The School for Good and Evil, and Tootles/Isaac in Alien: Earth.

Following his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2017 with a BA in Acting, Young built a strong foundation in theatre. He appeared in a range of acclaimed productions including Julius Caesar, where he played Octavius at the Bridge Theatre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Lysander and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the Donmar Warehouse. His performance as Lysander was broadcast in cinemas and on television as part of National Theatre Live screenings and earned him a nomination for the Ian Charleson Award.

Young made his early screen appearance in the BBC drama Endeavour, marking his transition from stage to television. He also appeared in short films such as The Devil’s Harmony and Alex, continuing to develop a screen presence alongside his theatre career.

His breakout role came in 2021 when he was cast as Jesper Fahey in Netflix’s adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series. The role introduced him to a global audience, portraying a sharp-shooting, quick-witted member of the popular Crows, and established him as one of the show’s central ensemble leads. He reprised the role in the show’s subsequent season, further expanding Jesper’s storyline within the Grishaverse universe.

Young also starred as Rafal in Netflix’s film adaptation of The School for Good and Evil (2022), taking on a key role in the fantasy feature alongside an ensemble cast. Alongside his screen work, Young has remained active in theatre, continuing to balance classical stage roles with on-screen projects. His work across both mediums reflects a strong grounding in Shakespearean performance alongside contemporary screen acting.

Most recently, Young has continued to expand his film and television portfolio with roles in projects including Out of Darkness and The Beautiful Game. He also appears in the Disney/FX science-fiction series Alien: Earth (2025) as Tootles, a hybrid character within the “Lost Boys” group, marking his entry into the Alien franchise.
