Kiowa Gordon is an American actor best known for his roles as Embry Call in The Twilight Saga, Junior Van Der Veen in The Red Road and Jim Chee in the AMC drama Dark Winds. He has also gained recognition for his performances in films such as The Lesser Blessed and Blood Quantum.

Born in Berlin and raised in Arizona, Kiowa is of Hualapai heritage through his mother. Before pursuing acting full-time, he was a member of a progressive metal band, working in music before transitioning into screen performance.

Kiowa made his on-screen debut in 2009 when he was cast as Embry Call in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, a role he continued across the franchise’s subsequent instalments. His breakout role introduced him to international audiences and led to further opportunities across both film and television.

Kiowa went on to hold a series regular role in the Sundance original series The Red Road, starring alongside Jason Momoa, Julianne Nicholson and Martin Henderson.

Across film, Kiowa has appeared in a range of independent and festival features, including Drunktown’s Finest, Through Black Spruce, and Castle in the Ground, where he starred opposite Alex Wolff. His performance in The Lesser Blessed earned him Best Supporting Actor at the American Indian Film Festival.

His work in festival and genre cinema includes Blood Quantum, which premiered at TIFF and was later acquired by Shudder, as well as Castle in the Ground, also premiering at TIFF. More recently, he starred in Quantum Cowboys alongside Lily Gladstone and David Arquette.

Kiowa currently portrays Navajo Tribal Police officer Jim Chee in AMC’s smash hit Dark Winds, a critically acclaimed psychological thriller produced by George R. R. Martin and Robert Redford.
