Crystal Yu is an actor, voice artist, and director whose work spans acclaimed television, film, and some of the biggest franchises in gaming. She recently completed filming Season 2 of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, as the formidable Lady Beifong, and starred alongside Jason Watkins and Sir Ian McKellen in the Oscar-shortlisted short film The One Note Man.
Some of her screen credits include Sunrise (Lionsgate) with Guy Pearce, Doctor Who (BBC America), Sister Boniface Mysteries (BBC/BritBox), Good Omens (Amazon), Silverpoint (Hulu), Industry (HBO), and Soulmates (AMC). Many will also know her as the feisty yet lovable Dr. Lily Chao from the BBC’s long-running drama Casualty.
In the gaming world, Crystal is best known as the voice of Alter in Apex Legends, the dimension-hopping Legend introduced in Season 21. She also voices Li Tian Ning, the “Sky Goddess,” in Skull and Bones, along with roles in Diablo IV, Unknown 9: Awakening, and Capes. Most recently, Yu voiced Xingzhu in the popular Arknights. Her performances blend precision, depth, and spark, earning her a place in multiple beloved fandoms. She is currently recording several exciting titles and looks forward to sharing more when they are announced.
Crystal has also brought her voice to the world of audiobooks, narrating the acclaimed Crown Colony series (The Frangipani Tree Mystery, The Betel Nut Tree Mystery, The Paper Bark Tree Mystery, and The Mimosa Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu). Her most recent project, The Phoenix Pencil Company by Allison King - a Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick - showcases her gift for bringing richly layered characters and immersive worlds to life.
Beyond acting, Crystal is an award-nominated director and writer, with work featured at FrightFest and the China Women’s Film Festival. Originally from China, she left home at age 11 after winning a place at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School in the UK, beginning a lifelong dedication to the arts. She is passionate about diversity and accessibility in storytelling, and has served as Patron of SLiDE Dance - an inclusive dance charity - since 2017.
