Winston’s Wish

What they do

Winston’s Wish is a national charity that helps children, young people (up to 25) and the adults supporting them to rebuild their lives after the death of someone important, enabling them to face the future with confidence and hope. They provide a huge range of support and guidance, both practical and emotional. The grief support workers offer one-time and ongoing digital bereavement support, and they also provide online resources, specialist publications and training for professionals.

Winston’s Wish was the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity and they continue to lead the way in ensuring that no child or young person has to face grief alone.

Why we are helping

Last year Winston’s Wish supported over 62,000 children and young people across the UK. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than 200,000 lives in the UK alone, leaving 16,800 children and young people bereaved of a parent or grandparent.  UK death rates are higher than ever before and this year alone an estimated 41,000 children and young people will lose a parent, some of them by homicide or suicide. Thousands more will face the heart-breaking loss of a sibling, grandparent, friend or other important person in their lives. This is putting huge pressure on services like Winston’s Wish.  We at DMJ Consultancy would like to do our part to help fundraise for this wonderful charity so that they can continue with their magnificent and vital work.

What we are doing

Following the success we had in previous years, DMJ Consultancy will again be supporting Winston’s Wish in 2024 by running a number of initiatives alongside our fantastic clients in order to raise much needed funds for the charity. An ambitious target of £3,000 has been set for the calendar year and everyone involved is determined to surpass that.

As each opportunity to support Winston’s Wish is revealed, this page will be updated to reflect how we can all help to raise much needed funds for this very deserving charity. These opportunities will also be announced on social media, by both DMJ Consultancy and the respective clients.

JustGiving does take a small percentage (between 1.9% and 2.9%, +20p, depending on where the donation is coming from). This covers the cost of the bank transfers to JustGiving and then to the charity. Donations made on JustGiving will go directly to Winston’s Wish.

In 2023, we raised a wonderful £8,710 for Winston’s Wish.

In 2022, we raised a wonderful £1,144 for Winston’s Wish.

In 2021, we raised a wonderful £6,618 for Winston’s Wish.
